The advantages of buying real estate in New England

Value. With the American dollar weaker than many other currencies, particularly those in Europe, now is an excellent time to buy. Many of our international buyers are choosing to take equity from their properties or investment at home to invest in the U.S., as they've found that they can purchase more for their money here.

Ease of purchase. Purchasing real estate in the U.S. is generally a far simpler process than it is in the U.K., for example. At Badger Realty, you'll be working with real estate professionals who are experienced in handling purchases and sales for international clients. Many clients are able to choose a property with one visit. We can then handle all details of the closing, so the client's second visit is to enjoy their new property.

Financing. We work closely with the local office of Simons & Leoni Home Loans. A Florida-based firm, they have special financing packages for foreign national buyers that offer up to 75% of the purchase price, with or without income verification. Their streamlined underwriting process focuses on finding the right package with the level of documentation that you are comfortable with.

Lifestyle. By choosing a property in the most popular year-round resort area in New England–New Hampshire's White Mountains–you'll enjoy a vacation lifestyle no matter what time of year you visit. The appeal of the area means another bonus: vacation rentals are in demand.

(For more on the area, visit the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce website.)

Availability of rental programs. Renting your holiday home is a great way to defray expenses. Some condominiums and home developments offer on-site rental programs–or you can work with the professional rental staff at Badger Realty.

Easy access. Direct flights to Boston's Logan International Airport, Manchester (New Hampshire) Airport or the Portland (Maine) International Jetport make getting to your new property easy. London to Boston flights average just 6 1/2 hours–whereas flights to Orlando, Florida are usually a minimum of 11 hours.

The Mt. Washington Valley is 2 1/2 hours north of Boston, 2 hours northeast of Manchester and 1 1/4 hours from Portland.

What Badger's international buyers are saying about buying U.S. real estate
"The United States to many British people is Disneyland and Florida and an 11 hour flight. However, we discovered New England is only 6 1/2 hours from Heathrow and so much more to offer. In winter there is masses of skiing with the advantage that the instructors speak English to the kids, and in summer the place changes into an outdoor pursuits centre (with the theme parks if that's what the little ones want!) Literally masses to do and never hearing that horrible phase "I'm bored". Buying a condo seemed the obvious choice as we spend holidays here and it's so cheap compared to home. The process is easy and any silly question I had was always promptly answered by Pete. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone contemplating doing the same."
